Welcome
Welcome to Hillside Primary and Nursery School!
Mrs Rhian Richardson
Head Teacher
Welcome to Hillside,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you, through our website, to Hillside Primary and Nursery School. It will provide you with a range of information from our vision, aims and curriculum to our policies and practice.
Our aim at Hillside is to provide an environment for each and every child where they feel safe, secure, happy and motivated to learn. In this way each child progresses academically as well as developing their own unique talents.
Our 8 values are threaded through our ‘Curriculum Principles’ and ‘Hillside Habits’ and are at the heart of our school. We strive to ensure your child’s first step on the ladder of education is a happy and rewarding one.
Our Values: Confidence, Pride, Aspiration, Perseverance, Teamwork, Responsibility, Creativity, Enjoyment
Collaboration is at the heart of all we do and we share expertise across networks of schools for the benefit of all children and to drive continued school improvement. We are part of the Flying High Trust and the Flying High Teaching School Hub. We also work with the English Hub. Through these collaborations, we work closely with other schools.
We pride ourselves on having a staff team committed to providing the best for every child. We encourage the children to develop confidence and independence by ensuring positive attitudes and high standards.
In partnership with the whole school community, I am delighted and privileged to lead this forward looking organisation into a future where, together, we continually strive to provide the support, opportunities and challenge which change children’s lives forever.
Artsmark Award
Here at Hillside we are always looking at ways to make learning more authentic and exciting for our children.
We are really proud to announce that we are officially working towards becoming an Artsmark school! Throughout our journey to gain our Artsmark award as a school, we will be working hard to put a bigger focus on the Arts across school, providing all of our children with more real opportunities to be creative with their learning and showcase what they have done to you all! We are really excited to see what we can achieve on this journey and we cannot wait to bring you all along!
Teacher Training
Did you know we support trainee teachers?
We take great pride in our partnership with Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training to nurture aspiring teachers. Trainee teachers receive exceptional support from both ILTT and our school during their placements. As an Ofsted 'Outstanding' partner, Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training offers various pathways to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), such as SCITT and assessment only routes for Early Years, Primary and Secondary.
The majority of training occurs within school with additional training days led by experienced teachers and leaders. Our school actively participates by providing Primary trainees with opportunities to interview and/or train within our school. Here, they benefit from the expert support, training, and guidance offered by our experienced teachers, subject specialists and learning coaches.
“All trainees are very well prepared for the realities of teaching, including in different settings. In the primary phase, trainees gain exceptional knowledge and skills.” Ofsted, 2023.
If you are passionate about education and want to make a difference in the lives of young people, we invite you to find out more. For information, school experience or to explore teacher training possibilities, visit the ILTT website at https://inspiringleadersscitt.com/.
